Feed ration
A feed ration for your horse, calculated on your own forage
A feed ration says how much forage, concentrate and supplements a horse needs each day to get the right amount of energy, protein and minerals. Mitt Stall works it out for you, for every horse, from the analysis of your own hay or haylage.

Work out your horse’s feed ration
What the ration is based on
The horse’s needs are calculated from its weight and workload according to Swedish feeding recommendations. The forage values come from your forage analysis: dry matter, energy and protein decide how many kilos it takes to meet those needs. That is why a ration is never better than the analysis behind it.
How Mitt Stall calculates
Forage comes first, because it should be the basis of the horse’s diet. Whatever is still missing in energy, protein and minerals is filled with concentrate and supplements. For every horse you see the balance against its needs, with a clear warning if anything ends up too low or too high.
- Forage first, in kilos or in portions
- Grazing is deducted from the hay when the horses are out
- Concentrate and supplements fill what is missing
- Balance per horse, with a warning for under- or overfeeding
The whole stable, not just one horse
Horses that share a paddock get the same hay. In Mitt Stall you group them in a paddock with shared forage, while each horse keeps its own concentrate and supplements. The stable’s own feeding times drive the schedule, so whoever feeds sees who gets what at each feed.
Ask the advisor, approve the change
Is the horse looking thin, are you moving to the winter paddock, have you run out of oats? Tell the feeding advisor. It knows the horses’ weight, body condition, work and health, proposes a change and shows how the balance moves for every horse before anything is saved. The numbers always come from the same calculation, never from the AI, and nothing changes until you approve.
Start with a forage analysis
The ration is calculated on forage with known dry matter and energy. If you have the analysis as a PDF, upload it and Mitt Stall reads the values for you. You can also enter them by hand.
